Bigtree Brands, a wholly Zambian incorporated company, is a manufacturer and supplier of foods and beverages. Bigtree’s distribution channel is a mix of direct sales, on-premise, wholesale, supermarket, and upcountry markets throughout Zambia.

The company started its operations in 2009 with two Tata LPT 713 DSLB trucks to deliver baby food via direct sales routes into the compounds of Lusaka. These two Tata trucks, aptly named with fleet numbers TATA 01 and TATA 02, are still working in the field and have done a tremendous job through the years.

When we launched our first drink, Tata International Zambia really supported us with the supply of various vehicle models to expand our portfolio and increase our efficiency. Tata International Zambia’s excellent lead time and unit supply has been our key support for all channels.

In addition, the ability to have the box bodies fabricated in Ndola has enabled us to purchase more units from Tata International Zambia as all the load bodies could be fabricated based on our specifications. The rugged, strong and robust LPT 1116 model has given us further confidence to continue to invest in Tata vehicles.

Our fleet of Tata units now consists of the LPT 1116, ULTRA 1012 and 1014 trucks, LPT 713, LPT 813, SFC 407, Super Ace, LP 909 BUS, XENON LT and most recently the Intra V20. The majority of our Tata trucks are the 1116 and ULTRA models.

The aftermarket experience with Tata International Zambia has also been wonderful and commendable, particularly when it comes to the routine service and breakdown attention we receive from Tata International Zambia’s workshop teams in both the Ndola and Lusaka offices. Based on our special request, Tata International Zambia has been opening their workshops for routine service on all our trucks on Saturdays, so that we do not experience a loss in our direct channel of sales.

Since we started buying Tata trucks, there has been a personal family touch from all the managers from the various departments, and with the introduction of financing through Alliance Finance, we are really enjoying our relationship with Tata International Zambia.
